Safety, comfort and the provision of an environment that enhances the learning experience have become key issues in schools around the world.

Children spend most of their school week sat at a desk, often on a chair designed more than thirty years ago. It is well known to teachers that poor seating has a major impact on a child's ability to concentrate, to learn and on their personal safety. Thousands of children are taken to hospital each year as a direct consequence of chair related accidents.

dlb... is a new company, and the brainchild of an experienced classroom teacher, has developed a unique range of products that will change the way children sit in class; improving their posture, comfort and safety.

dlb... 's first products, a range of anti-tilt chairs, prevent children from rocking back and provide extraordinary lumbar support and comfort.

These statistics will probably shock you, however, if you ask any teacher they will tell you that they have to remind pupils to sit up and not to lean back in every lesson. It is a well known problem. Not only does a child leaning back put him or herself in danger, it constantly stops the flow of lessons; reducing the ability of a teacher to explain new concepts and for a whole class to stay focused. It is a constant interruption that can be avoided.

Children falling off chairs often bang their heads on desks, radiators or the floor itself causing serious injuries, concussion and deaths. The dlb... seating range aims to eradicate, or at least reduce the number of accidents, as well as give a practical solution to a lifelong problem.

Comfort

The dlb... ranges of chairs aim to give pupils a more comfortable seat in which to learn. It meets the new European, En 1729 standards, which enforce the need to give extra support to a pupil's back.

Design

The dlb... chair has a contemporary style, in a market that has not seen any significant design change for 45 years. dlb... aim to bring the everyday school chair in line with the the advances in IT, stylish whiteboards and the fresh environment of a modern classroom. As well as looking at the technical aspects of the anti-tilt frame and the ergonomic standards, dlb... wanted to create a chair which made people stop in their tracks and stare. A talking point and a design for the future.
